The local Cotswold Caching group will be holding a meet ‘n’ greet event every couple of months throughout 2015. It will be held on the second Sunday of the month and each event will take place at a different location within the Cotswolds.

For this fifth event we welcome you to The Cat & The Custard Pot Inn in Shipton Moyne. It is a lovely countryside pub which has been around for over 300 years, now managed by 5 different families from within the village itself.

Located only 3 miles from Tetbury in Gloucestershire and 3 miles from Malmesbury in Wiltshire, this pub is on the border between the two counties but very much a cotswold village with plenty to go and do locally. With 232 geocaches within a 5 mile radius of the event and on-route of the Along Newnton's Contrasting Circular Trail, a 12 mile, 37 geocache series, this makes it an ideal starting/stopping spot or even a break along the way.

The reason behind the name of this event, is that by now the summer holidays will be over and all the children will be back to school. Walking routes will be a bit quietier and the 'hot' weather will have cooled down to pleasant strolls.

Views

There is plenty of room inside this establishment, with tables scattered throughout the many rooms with the main dining at the back and there are picnic tables in the front garden which if a fine day and good weather we may be sat outside otherwise inside by the main bar will be where the logbook will be so that everyone has easy access to it.

The venue is open from Midday to 11:30pm on Sundays. Serving of food ceases before this event starts, 12-4pm and 6:30pm-9:30pm for food, but have been warned food can finish as early as 3pm. I can suggest if you are planning to do the local cache series, to finish it back in Shipton Moyne and then grab well deserved food. The menus can be viewed here.

Dogs and muddy boots are welcome.

There is free parking at the venue, however space is at a premium. Please park as close together as possible, and if you are able to vehicle share to get to the event then all the better. There are other places to park other than at the pub car park, out along the main street but again parking can be limited.
