Geocache Description:

This is cache #01 on a circular trail of approximately 10 miles, along Long Newnton, Brokenborough, Shipton Moyne and the outskirts of Tetbury.

This trail is contrasting in various ways; the state of the fields where horses are kept versus those with cattle is the most obvious.

The terrain difficulty has been set at 2 for all of the caches to reflect the average difficulty of the entire series. Some parts of the route can be very muddy especially after rainfall.

The trail will cross the Fosse Way twice - between #05 and #06 you will find a cache, GC1Q4JZ
- Let's Off Road 03, which forms part of the excellent 'Let's off road' series and again between #16 and #17.

The route was planned using an OS map and the trail follows public footpaths. At the time of placement, some of the tracks do not follow the footpath according to the OS map, in particular after crossing the Fosseway when approaching cache #06 and subsequently going towards #07, #08 and #16 going to #17. As footpath markings are not consistent along the trail I suggest you check an OS map and review the entire route before setting off to avoid disappointment.

In case 10 miles is too long, you can shorten it by going from cache #04 to #21. In this case you will pass equine country with very well kept fields. As the footpaths here cross fields containing horses, the owner has created a very nice walkway along the perimeter of the fields. It will add some time to your journey but will allow avoiding crossing a field of horses in case you prefer not to.

There are various roadside parking opportunities along the route in case you do not want to start at #01.

Easiest would be to park at the triangle at Long Newnton along the B4014 (there is also some roadside parking south of this) and start with #01.
Alternatively you can park in:
- Brokenborough and start with #09
- Shipton Moyne and start with #20
- Tetbury to start with #27.

Each of these 3 places above have a pub in case you require some refreshments along the route.

At the time of placement, only a few caches contained a pencil, so please bring a pen/pencil and I suggest you also take a paperclip, tweezers or similar utensil to help getting the log out of some of the caches.

You will have to cross a road in a few occasions and will walk along some of it. In most cases I found it a welcome change. Please take care when walking from #15 to #16 as there is no footpath here.

At the time of placement, there were 9 35mm canisters, 22 small tubes and 6 clip 'n lock cache containers. I would have liked to have placed more clip 'n lock boxes, but didn't want to venture off the paths too much to get a good hiding place, so expect some caches on trees, just so you know....

And finally... all of the caches were placed with the intention so they can be found. Some are easy so there may be a few QEF log entries - others may be a little more difficult. However, in most cases the hint will be just that - a hint - not a detailed description of the actual location of the cache. Also please keep in mind that as caches may be put back in a slightly different place over time, the hint may become inaccurate.

For cache #01, you are looking for a tube canister.
