The Campus Trail
The Campus Trail is a series of 11 caches in total, located on or close to the Lancaster University Woodland Walk and Trim Trail. The others in the series are:
The caches can be visited in any order but please note that the published location of the bonus cache has been chosen to assist in planning a route around them all to include the bonus at the end. If attempting them all in one round, you should probably allow 2.5 - 3 hours for the full circuit. Appropriate footwear should be worn; many sections of the woodland Trail are muddy.
Please note that this is a brand new cache and has nothing in common with the previous Rubypuppy Bonus. It requires new information to be collected from each of the caches in the series, so if you have not visited the caches since their adoption by The Quietly Crew, you will need to visit them to recover the necessary information (which is always of the form of a letter/number coding, e.g. A = 7). If you have the series caches stored in the your GPSr, you might want to refresh that information to ensure it is up to date, as almost all of the older caches in the series have changed location and form since adoption and adaptation to this new series.
NOTE: The University operates a "no dogs" rule, so please leave the Geopooch at home for this one.
Note also that parking restrictions apply on campus during the working week (Mon-Fri, 08:00-18:00) and a permit scheme is in operation for staff and students. Visitors may park only in the car parking areas designated for their use and will need to buy a pay and display ticket. Outside of these weekday hours, parking is free and unrestricted, as long as you park in a marked parking bay. Disabled parking spaces are reserved for Blue Badge holders at all times. Geocachers are asked not to use the roadside parking on Hazelrigg Lane (Waypoint NP) as this can cause traffic obstructions. The recommended parking location for this series of caches is on Alexandra Park, shown as Waypoint PK. Campus is well-served by frequent bus services.
This cache has been placed with the permission and cooperation of Lancaster University Facilities Department. The Facilities Department website has full details of the University's Car Parking advice for visitors, including prices and detailed maps etc. Also available is a leaflet with full details of the Woodland Walk and Trim Trail, which includes the locations of some sources of refreshment on campus.
