Geocache Description:

This cache is in the Yankee Springs Recreation Area. Recreation Passport or daily fee required.

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates...but it is a very good place to start.

You can find this one without a boat, but you will likely need waterproof footwear anyway.

I've had 6 FTFs in the last two months on island/kayak caches. The strange thing about all but one of them is they had been sitting unfound for at least a couple of weeks (almost 6 weeks for the first one) without any attempts. This seemed odd to me. So, I put on my gray-matter accelerator cap and I think I figured out why...

Most cachers probably believe it isn't worth their time to get a boat, cart it to the launch, spend up to an hour rowing/paddling to the cache, for just one
I have the solution.

How about ?!?

That's right sports fans. I'm making it worth your while to come after these caches. Now instead of one lonely you can fill your daily quota.

No more excuses.

Come and get 'em!

This is a Letterbox Hybrid cache. To find this cache you will need to follow the following series of instructions.

After grabbing La Isla of Hall Lake Head to the North shore of the island and look around. Do you see the two dead trees in these pictures? (taken from a different angle than you are looking)

If you find them, row/paddle to the trees and land your craft.

Get out of your craft and head toward the sound of running water. This is a spring which provides much of the water for Hall Lake. Once you cross the stream, you will see ten paces ahead...an obvious hiding spot.

Is the cache here?

If you don't find it, head down the trail for about 10-15 paces until you come to another likely spot.
Is the cache here?

Hmmm. Probably not. It doesn't look like it fits.
Look off to your left (assuming you are facing East) what is that about 15 paces away?
Is the cache here?

If not, go back to the path and continue East. In another 10 paces or so you will see a dead three-trunked tree on your right.
Is the cache here?

If not, continue down the path. In about 25-30 paces you will see another obvious hiding spot, also on your right.
Is the cache here?

Again, if it isn't, continue down the path. After about 45 paces, (you should be near the corner of the lake) look up the hill to your left. Do you see the fallen giant? Head up the hill and check it out.
Is the cache here?
(If it isn't, you better check the other spots more carefully...this is the end of the line.)

When you do find the cache, make sure to record the numbers for the *BONUS* cache before heading back out on the water. You will find them on the inside back cover of the log book.

Make sure you check out the other caches in the series:
