Geocache Description:

Hincaster Tunnel is an impressive piece of engineering, taking the Lancaster Canal through the hill into the valley of the River Kent.

The tunnel is 378 yards in length with fine masonry entrances. Close by this eastern end runs the new dual-carriageway and the west coast mainline crosses over the tunnel entrance. A busy piece of countryside! Follow this link for more info about the tunnel and the canal: Hincaster.

Can be part of a nice circular walk including the Hincaster Trailway. The tow path can't go through the tunnel, so the Horsepath takes it over the hill to Hincaster and the other end of the tunnel. Easy parking on the small lane, N side of A590.
