The Muppet Show - Muppet Show Series FINAL (GC3H7QH)
Electric Mayhem is the house band on The Muppet Show.
Dr. Teeth is the leader of the band. He plays keyboards and is the lead singer. His first appearance was in the 1975 pilot episode. Despite being the leader of the band, Dr. Teeth is never featured in the regular orchestra like the rest of the group. Dr. Teeth and Animal were the only two members of Electric Mayhem designed by Jim Henson, and after Henson's death Dr. Teeth made very few appearances with rare dialogue.
Animal is one of the most beloved and recognizable faces of the band. He is a crazed drummer who speaks in a gutteral shout, often repeating a few simple phrases such as "WO-MAN" and "BEAT DRUMS! BEAT DRUMS!". Even with limited dialogue, Animal's wild style made him a favorite in sketches of all types.
Floyd Pepper is the bass player. He is sometimes referred to as Sgt. Floyd Pepper due to his character's influence from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Floyd is one of the more vocal and influential members of the band. He is frequently paired with Janice, and has a certain amount of influence over Animal.
Janice is the lead guitar player, but she has also played the tambourine, trumpet and trombone. In addition to playing in the band and the orchestra, she also portrays Nurse Janice in Veterinarian’s Hospital. Janice has a laid-back personality.
Zoot is the balding, blue-haired saxophone player, who played on both the band and the orchestra. One of Zoot's trademarks is blowing small notes of music at a time, such as the final note of The Muppet Show Theme Song each episode. Zoot spoke frequently through the first season of the show, but as time went on he spoke very little, letting the music do it for him.
Lips is the trumpet player. He only debuted in the fifth and final season of the show, thus he frequently doesn't show up in group shots of the band or promotional material. Adding to Lips' obscurity is the fact he rarely spoke and didn't often appear in skits either.
