The Muppet Show - Muppet Show Series FINAL (GC3H7QH)
Kermit The Frog is the most famous and beloved of all of Jim Henson’s creations. As the star and the host of The Muppet Show, Kermit is one busy frog. Kermit's most well-known catchphrase is "Hi-ho, Kermit the Frog here!" He typically introduced acts on The Muppet Show by waving his arms wildly and shouting "Yaaaay!". It’s not be easy being green, but Kermit makes it look like fun! In addition to hosting, he often got to chat with guest stars, participate in activities backstage, and even be in some numbers.
Kermit made his first appearance in 1955 on Sam and Friends, made from an old coat of Jim’s mothers with ping pong balls for eyes. He wasn’t even a frog yet, he was an ambiguous lizard-like creature and yet he was introduced as “Kermit the Frog” by Johnny Carson in 1965. Jim asserted Kermit’s froghood in a 1971 special The Frog Prince.I can’t imagine him any other way.
Funny to have a pig fall in love with a frog, but in the fanciful world of muppets, anything can happen. Kermit spent as much time resisting her pursuit as avoiding her karate chops! Numerous episodes revolved around Kermit and Miss Piggy.
Jim Henson fully understood Kermit’s significant place, and during his life Kermit was only performed by Jim but he had chosen who he thought could do it after he passed. You have to stand in awe of his foresight. From the time Jim Henson felt slightly sick to the time he passed was 12 days. A visionary in so many ways and an enormous part of my childhood and many others too.
