Geocache Description:

This cache replaces April Challenge - BUSTED , which was archived at the request of the E.P. Police Department. Go to that cache page to read my archive notice. The rules for this cache are the same as it's predecessor with one exception. For those that logged the previous April Challenge ... you may log this cache as well, but you must use a new set of April Cache publications. In other words, caches used to qualify for my previous cache are NOT allowed here.

The April Challenge is out of JAIL. CACHE ON!

Intro
I decided to take up the cause and sponsor one of this series of monthly challenge caches started by dgauss. As Sharknose Bunnies said in so many words when publishing the December edition “I want to be left out in the cold”! A little muddy, but April was the best month left. I enjoy caching in the late fall, winter & early spring. No sweat, no bugs and no itchy plants!

Abstract:
Cache IS AT THE POSTED COORDINATES; however, because there are additional logging requirements this cache is classified as a puzzle. The major requirement is to find, or to have found, in Minnesota, 30 caches, one for each day of April according to the date it was placed. Thus you'll find one that was placed on the first, one that was placed on the 2nd, and so on.

Genesis:
See the other Minnesota month challenges (Listed Below). April is a month of transition from winter to spring. Anything is possible; including warm sunny days and blizzard snows. It is generally a good month to cache in the woods, as the ground cover foliage hasn't started to grow much yet and the only challenge is locating the caches under wet leaves and patches of snow still left from winter. Another great month for this series of Minnesota Challenge caches!

FAQ:

  1. What counts and what doesn't? Caches that have physical logs, i.e. traditionals, multi's, puzzles, and letterbox hybrids but not virtuals, events, earthcaches, webcams, or locationless caches. Furthermore, premium member only and whereigo caches don't count.
  2. How about other months? Please go ahead and place a "May Blackout Challenge" or another month that hasn't been chosen. That would create a total of 12 caches.
  3. Why just Minnesota? This challenge is following the same format as the others already released.
  4. How about Wisconsin? Go ahead and place a "April Blackout Challenge - WI". If we did that for each state and each month we'd have 600 new caches!
  5. How about using find dates rather than placed dates? Wow! That'd be 1200 new caches.
  6. Do prior finds count? Yes, but that's not as big of an advantage as it might seem.
  7. Why's that? If you just were to find April-placed caches at random, after a while you would start to duplicate placement dates. For example, after about 30 finds of April-placed caches you still would have about eleven to go, after 60 that would be down to about four; only after 120 would you have half a chance of finding them all. And multiply those numbers by about 20 to account for all months and you'd need a couple thousand or so Minnesota finds to have even half a chance. So most cachers should have at least a few caches to find.
  8. What are the logging requirements? In either order, you have to find and sign the log at the posted coordinates and you have to either bookmark or email a list of the GCXXX for your 30 finds, each of which must have been found and logged by you personally. After you've done both you may claim the find. Please try to order your bookmark by April placement date.
  9. How can I easily obtain the placements dates of caches I've found? One way is to scan the "All Cache Finds" list for your profile.
  10. How do I find caches according to their placement date? One way is to scan through caches listed for Minnesota. These are arranged by placement date. You might need to go back through the years.
  11. What if I've more questions? Just ask. Anything significant that's been overlooked will be listed and dated here.
