Geocache Description:

The Great Blue Heron cache is the first in a series of caches that highlight some of the publicly accessible but little known ponds in and around London. Some are stormwater management ponds, others are just widenings in a creek, but the caches are all found in close proximity to and with a great view of the pond.

The terrain is easy, parking is close by, but the puzzle to find the coordinates of the cache is challenging.

The initial coordinates take you to this beautiful pond in a new industrial subdivision of southeast London. As I was placing the cache, I spied two great blue herons, probably eating some frogs and fish from the pond. These herons fly between my pond (about 0.5 km away), my neighbour's pond, this pond, and the Thames River. They are beautiful birds, who soar with an enormous wing span.

In order to solve this puzzle, you have to decode the following series of numbers. If correctly decoded, they will take you to the final coordinates and the hidden cache. You will have a great view of the pond from this location.

You can check your answers for this puzzle on Geochecker.com.

The cache has several toy animals to trade. Note, it is a small cache and can hold only small items.

Please take the opportunity to visit some or all of the other eleven pond puzzle caches in the series. And when you log your find, be sure to mention what sort of birds or wildlife you encounter on your trek.

Congratulations to DNStephens for a quick solve and FTF, on the first day of publication. C'mon all you birder-cachers out there, this one may require a little work, but it's worth it... I'm submitting this cache on my one-month anniversary of getting back into the geocaching after a long hiatus...
