Geocache Description:

"Die Weiße Rose" wurde von Münchener Studenten gegründet. Bekannteste Mitglieder waren die Geschwister Hans und Sophie Scholl. Die Gruppe verfasste sechs antinazistische Flugblätter, die vor allem an der Münchener Universität verteilt und in Briefkästen gesteckt wurden.

Ende 1942 knüpfte die Gruppe Kontakte zu anderen Widerstandsgruppen, so dass die Flugblätter auch in anderen großen Städten in Süddeutschland verteilt werden konnten. Am 18.02.1943 wurden Hans und Sophie Scholl vom Hausmeister der Universität überrascht, als sie Flugblätter vom obersten Stockwerk aus in den Lichthof warfen. Er übergab sie an die Gestapo.

Am 22.02.1943 wurden sie und ihr Mitstreiter Christof Probst zum Tode verurteilt und noch am selben Tag hingerichtet.

In Berlin erinnert eine Kultureinrichtung an diese Widerstandsgruppe. Ein Hinweisschild auf der Hauptstraße weist auf diese Stätte hin – dort findet ihr den Cache.

The White Rose - Die Weiße Rose

”The White Rose” was founded by students from Munich. The most popular members were Hans and Sophie Scholl. The group composed six flyers against the Nazi regime which were handed out mainly at the munich university and put into postboxes.

At the end of 1942 the group contacted other resistance groups, so that the flyers could be spread out in other big cities of southern Germany, too. At Feb. 18th, 1943, Hans and Sophie Scholl were caught by the caretaker of the university whilst throwing flyers from the upper floor of the building into the courtyard. He handed them over to the Gestapo.

At Feb. 22th, 1943, they and their fellow fighter Christoph Probst were condemned to death and executed the same day.

In Berlin a cultural institution commemorates this resistance group. A direction sign at the main road points at this site – and there you can find the cache.

Eigentlich wollte ich ja nur 'außergewöhnliche' Caches legen. Aber beim Namen meiner Serie fühlte ich mich fast moralisch verpflichtet, hier eine Dose zu hinterlassen.

Actually I wanted to make 'very special and creative' caches only. But with the name of my series I felt somehow a moral duty to leave a box here.
