A
Capela de S. Gens actualmente tem a designação de Capela de S.
Filipe. Segundo o livro Tibães e a Ermida de S. Gens de António de
Sousa Araújo e as informações recolhidas pelo Sr. José Agostinho,
de Padim da Graça, a mudança de nome remonta provavelmente ao fim
do ano de 1930 e ficou a dever-se à escolha da figura do apóstolo
São Filipe para tema central da pintura do tecto. Esta escolha
deve-se a dois membros da família Braga, da vizinha freguesia de
Parada de Tibães, cujo progenitor se chamava Filipe e que se
prontificaram a mandar restaurar a capela de S. Gens, nomeadamente
o telhado e o tecto.
A
Capela de S. Filipe situa-se no lugar de S. Filipe no ponto mais
alto da freguesia de Mire de Tibães, no cimo do monte de S. Gens.
No lado sul encontram-se as freguesias de Cabreiros, Gondizalves e
Semelhe, do lado norte, Mire de Tibães, Padim da Graça e Parada de
Tibães.
É uma
capela pequena de formato rectangular com o telhado de duas águas.
A sua estrutura é construída à base de pedra e cal, com reboco de
cimento, tem uma porta em ferro com abertura em rede na fachada
principal e uma pequena janela do lado esquerdo.
Esta
capela ou ermida, ostenta, na padieira, a data de 1196, no entanto,
há referências históricas que a edificação primitiva será
precedente ao Mosteiro de Tibães.
Em
suma, a capela de S. Filipe, sendo um local de culto religioso,
também possui uma bela paisagem natural, de elevada altitude face à
envolvente, oferecendo uma excelente vista sobre a Cerca
Conventual, o Mosteiro de Tibães e toda a freguesia de Mire de
Tibães.
