"The Terramar Museum is located in a historical building right in the center of Bonaire’s capital city Kralendijk, on a little plaza behind Terramar Bonaire Luxury Apartments. The archaeological museum with various exhibitions takes you on a journey through 7,000 years of Caribbean history. Through different exhibitions, fascinating artifacts, real images, and 3D reconstructions, you will interactively experience the intriguing history of Bonaire and the Caribbean.
The museum offers fixed exhibitions and temporary exhibitions. The fixed exhibition consists of a route that will guide you through 7,000 years of Bonairean and Caribbean history. There is a central room that provides an clear overview of the Bonairean and Caribbean history. The 20-meter long timeline on the walls shows what changed and happened during time, using countless images and drawings.
In the rooms that follow you will experience the full history and archaeology of Bonaire and the Caribbean. It is all exhibited using beautiful artifacts, photographs and various drawings made from original descriptions about that certain time. The artifacts found on Bonaire and the Caribbean are protected by custom made display cases. Information panels give you just the right amount of information and will tell you more about the how and why of the artifacts, images and drawings you are seeing. As you continue through time, you will start to find artifacts relating to the European colonizers and the time of slavery on Bonaire. Furthermore, there are even quite some objects recovered from shipwrecks."
