The window niche at the northwest corner of the chapel of Münchwilen is the only in-situ Romanesque artifact in the Fricktal region.

EN: The chapel of Münchwilen emerged from a hermitage that existed until 1791. Its founding date is unknown, but it was older than the village named after it. The building was rebuilt and expanded in 1719 in Baroque style.
The ornate limestone niche on the northwest exterior wall was taken over by the predecessor building. Dating back to around 1200, it is the only example of Romanesque architecture in all of Fricktal, which is still in its original location.
DE: Die Kapelle von Münchwilen entstand aus einer Einsiedelei, die bis 1791 bestand. Ihre Gründungszeit ist unbekannt, sie war aber älter als das Dorf, das nach ihr benannt wurde. Das Gebäude wurde um 1719 in barockem Stil umgebaut und erweitert.
Die verzierte Nische aus Kalkstein an der nordwestlichen Aussenwand wurde vom Vorgängerbau übernommen. Sie stammt aus der Zeit um 1200 und ist das einzige Beispiel romanischer Architektur im ganzen Fricktal, das sich noch an ihrem ursprünglichen Standort befindet.
