Summary: The Escondido Creek marks the trailhead,one of the last year round creeks in San Diego county. The "way-up trail" starts right from the porti-potties and water-trough for you equestrian types. There is a well marked Botanical Trail describing the various flora in the area. If you feel brave, continue on to Lake Hodges via the Derbas trail.

Trailhead: From Highway 78 take Rancho Santa Fe Road south. Go east on San Elijo Road about 5 miles to the Elfin Forest Receational Reserve parking lot.

From I-15 take 9th Street to Harmony Grove Road.

From Highway 78, exit Nordahl south to Country Club Drive, then go right on Harmony Grove road
