EN: This overview map is located at the bottom of the stairs to Köniz Castle. "Your location" is the red dot at the bottom left of the map, the stairs are called "Schlossstäge". From here you can only see the church tower, the rest of the castle area is covered by the hilltop.
The church dates back to the 10th or 11th century. From 1226 it belonged to the Teutonic Order, who founded here a fortified Commandery, which existed until the Reformation, and remained in the possession of the Order as a farm estate until 1729.
DE: Diese Übersichtskarte befindet sich am unteren Ende der Treppe zu Schlöss Köniz. "Ihr Standort" ist der rote Punkt unten links auf der Karte, die Treppe heisst "Schlossstäge". Von hier sieht man vom Schlossgelände nur den Kirchturm, der Rest ist von der Hügelkuppe verdeckt.
Die Kirche geht auf des 10. oder 11. Jahrhundert zurück. Ab 1226 gehörte sie dem Deutschen Orden, der hier eine befestigte Komturei gründete, die bis zur Reformation bestand, und als Gutshof noch bis 1729 im Besitz des Ordens war.
