"La ligne 140 Ottignies - Fleurus - Charleroi fut établie par la Compagnie du Grand Central Belge, issue de la fusion de plusieurs compagnies privées. Elle suit notamment le cours de la Dyle et de la Thyle.

En trafic voyageur, la ligne est uniquement parcourue par une desserte omnibus. Elle fut toutefois électrifiée en 1986 et s'inscrit dans le corridor fret Nord - Sud Belifret. 

Quelque peu délaissée par les trains de voyageurs, elle devrait prochainement bénéficier de nouveaux services en déservant  l’aéroport de Charleroi.

Depuis 1855 elle traverse les ruines de l'Abbaye de Villers-la-Ville en coupant le jardin de l'abbé entre l'abrupte colline aménagée en terrasses et les vieux murs du palais abbatial."

"Line 140 Ottignies - Fleurus - Charleroi was established by the Company of Grand Central Belge, resulting from the merger of several private companies. She follows the course of the Dyle and Thyle.
In passenger traffic, the line is only covered by an omnibus service. However, it was electrified in 1986 and is part of the North - South freight corridor Belifret.

Somewhat neglected by passenger trains, it should soon benefit from new services by serving the Charleroi airport.

Since 1855 it crosses the ruins of the Abbey of Villers-la-Ville by cutting the garden of the abbot between the steep hill terraces and the old walls of the abbey palace."
