[EN] The Burgmannenhaus Waldenhof is located in Waldenhof 1 in 54550 Daun.

"Late medieval building, rebuilt in 1725.

In the 16th century the Waldenhof was the home of the old Kurtrian family of the knight Mohr von Wald. In 1729, the building, which had previously been protected by a wall in the castle grounds, was given a new front. Above the door is the coat of arms of the knight's family, which is said to date from 1534.

The von Mohr von Wald dynasty dates back to the 12th century, to the Moselle knight families Senheim and von Braunshorn. From 1241 the descendants named themselves "de Walda" (translated: from the forest) after their possessions in the Peterswald.

Numerous male members of the von Wald family were in the service of counts, knights, spiritual and secular rulers. Numerous nuns and abbesses can be traced from the women Mohr von Wald (or Mohrin von Wald).
The knights Mohr von Wald moved into a house, the Waldenhof in the town of Daun in the Eifel, which still exists today.
The coat of arms of the family consists of the chessboard, the main motive, which is crowned by a Mohrenkopf. It was assumed in 1482 as an indication that the family saw itself as vassals of the Counts of Sponheim.
Friedrich Wilhelm Mohr von Wald, officer of the Wallenstein troops, was interesting for the Thirty Years' War. In 1634 he is said to have been commissioned by General Wallenstein to send a written message to Emperor Ferdinand.
The knightly family of the Mohr von Wald extinguished in the 18th century with Philipp Lothar Mohr von Wald."
