Am Weg zur Burgruine Drachenfels in der Nähe der Talstation der Drachenfelsbahn befindet sich ein wohl einzigartiges Verkehrsschild: Hier werden Passanten vor Drachen gewarnt!

Bei dem Schild handelt es sich um ein typisches, deutsches Warnzeichen mit dreieckiger Form, rotem Rand und schwarzem Motiv auf weißem Grund. Das Motiv zeigt eine Burgruine und einen großen Drachen, der hinter dem Berg hervorschaut.

Bei der Burgruine handelt es sich natürlich um den Drachenfels, einem Berggipfel 245 Meter oberhalb vom Rhein mit Resten einer Burg. Der Nibelungensage nach hat hier der Held Siegfried mit einem Drachen gekämpft und diesen besiegt. Daher dieses (vermutlich nicht ganz ernst gemeinte) Verkehrsschild.
On the way to the Drachenfels castle ruins near the valley station of the Drachenfelsbahn cogwheel railway, there is a unique road sign warning passers-by of dragons.

The sign is a typical German warning sign with triangular shape, red border and black motif on a white background. The motif shows a castle ruin and a big dragon peeking out from behind the mountain.

The castle ruins are, of course, the Drachenfels, a mountain peak 245 meters above the River Rhine with the remains of a castle. According to the Nibelungen saga, here the hero Siegfried fought with a dragon and defeated him. Therefore, this (probably not quite seriously meant) road sign.
