Corner Gas is a Canadian television sitcom created by Brent Butt. The series ran for six seasons from 2004 to 2009. Deriving its name from the roadside gas station in the fictional town of Dog River, Saskatchewan, Corner Gas is the only gas station for 60 kilometres (37 mi) in any direction. The series completed its run following broadcast of its sixth season on April 13, 2009, with a total of 107 episodes. The show averaged a million viewers per episode. Corner Gas received six Gemini Awards, and was nominated almost 70 times for various awards. Corner Gas was filmed entirely in Saskatchewan. The interior shots (Ruby Cafe interior, Police Department, Oscar and Emma's house, etc.) were filmed at Canada/Saskatchewan Production Studios in Regina. All the outdoor scenes and all scenes that take place in the gas station were filmed on location in Rouleau, Saskatchewan. Rouleau is a small town on Highway 39 between Moose Jaw and Weyburn. The grain elevator was repainted to read "Dog River" instead of "Rouleau"

The Dog River Police Station is one of several important locations that appear in multiple episodes of the Corner Gas television series. The exterior of the police station (which according to the sign doubles as the Municipal Office) is shown in many episodes, starting from Season 1 Episode 1.

"The Dog River Police Station was the workplace of Karen and Davis – where they took naps and fought crime, and Karen wrote a lot of tickets. The police interrogation room was featured in the season one episode, “All My Ex’s,” when we learned that there were some problems with the DRPD’s recent renovations."

While the building appears in many episodes, like many Corner Gas buildings it is usually shown briefly to set the scene, without any of the shows actors being in the shot. The first episode to feature extended scenes with the actors in front of the building is Season 1 Episode 8 ("Cousin Carl"), where characters Davis and Karen (the entire "force" in the Dog River Police Station, a fact that is made clear during Season 1 Episode 2) are shown sitting in front of the station. Davis is trying to convince Karen to be his partner in an upcoming Dog River Talent Show.

The building that served as the exterior of the Dog River Police Station is actually a private residence, located on Main Street across from the actual Rouleau Municipal Office building. It was in fact for sale when we visited in June 2018. A plaque affixed to the building denotes it's use as a part of the show.
