In Providence, within Roger Williams Park, is the Roger Williams Park Zoo.

The zoo is located right off I-95. Take the exit for Rhode Island Route 10 and follow the signs to the park, about 3/4 mile from the entrance to the left. Follow the main road through the park to the zoo entrance on the left. The parking lot is just beyond.

The zoo has an entrance area where you pay admission. From there, follow the map to find the exhibits. The exhibits are usually open air with room to move about. Some of the animals present include: African Elephants, Masai Giraffes, white-cheeked Gibbons, Cheetahs, Harbor Seals, Red wolf, Plains Zebras, Bennett's Wallabies, Red Panda, River Otter, Matchie's Tree Kanagroo, Moon Bear, Laughing Kookaburra, Barn Owl, Red-Crowned Crane, and Komodo Dragon. Other activities exist, such as a moderate childrens playground, a 'train' (it runs on tires on paved road), and a 'Soaring Eagle' Zipline. One part of the zoo is dedicated to understanding farming and farm animals and allows kids to feed and brush animals. Other events may happen in the day, as well.

One of the well-known events at this zoo is the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular at Roger Williams Park Zoo, where hundreds of carved pumpkins are on display as you walk around paths within the zoo. There are other displays, as well to compliment the pumpkins. The event runs from about October 4 to November 4.
