The Vietnamese Boat People are refugees from Vietnam who fled from their home country beginning at the end of 1970s till the end of the 1990s. By crossing the Chinese Sea they risked they lifes and many of them were killed the power of the nature or became victims of pirates operating in that area.
The Cap Anamur was a ship of the humantarian organization 'Deutsche Notärzte' which operates in the Chinese Sea to pick up the Boat People. The last boat which was picked by the Cap Anamur has been brought to Troisdorf and is now placed near the center of the city at a street crossing.
