Le feuillet n°57 représentant l'entrée et la catastrophe minière du Bois du Cazier a été imprimé en 1981 soit exactement après 25 ans de l'événement.
Le 8 août 1956 elle causa la mort de 262 mineurs. La catastrophe fut couverte internationalement pendant de nombreuses semaines. Elle est ensuite à l'origine d'une prise de conscience de la condition des ouvriers mineurs et des normes de sécurité dans cette industrie.

The stamp sheet n ° 57 representing the entrance and the mining disaster of the Bois du Cazier was printed in 1981 exactly after 25 years of the event.
On August 8, 1956 it caused the death of 262 miners. The disaster was covered internationally for many weeks. It is then responsible for raising awareness of the condition of miners and safety standards in this industry.
