My commentary:
This is a very typical Gothic Revival church built in the Victorian era. Built in 1895, the church features the tall, slender, arched windows; the very imposing steeple - in this case a towered steeple, and the almost hidden entry. The white clapboard siding is also a defining feature of this style. Quite fortunate that this church survived the catastrophic effects of hurricane Katrina.

Welcome to Main Street United Methodist Church, located in the heart of Old Town Bay Saint Louis. Join us on Sunday mornings for Small Group & Sunday School at 9 am and worship at 10:00 am. We want to experience God as we worship, grow, and serve. We hope you’ll join us!

Main Street United Methodist Church began in 1852 as one of the Mississippi Coast’s earliest churches. The church, which has been located in the heart of Bay Saint Louis’ Old Town for over 150 years, has had a long and colorful history. It has grown and changed alongside the community, riding out Hurricane Camille and Hurricane Katrina. Main Street UMC continues to be active in the community as well as offer a space where we may all experience God as we worship, grow, and serve.
