Acheté par la Ville de Namur en 1935, ce superbe hôtel de maître du XVIIIe siècle, classé au patrimoine exceptionnel de Wallonie, abrite l’une des plus riches collections d’art décoratif du XVIIe au XIXe s. accessible au public (peintures, sculptures, faïences, cristaux, mobiliers, tissus, orfèvrerie, horlogerie…). La décoration intérieure de l’édifice (boiseries, marbres, stucs, toiles peintes, cuirs dorés, tapisseries, papiers peints) évoque avec élégance l’atmosphère d’une demeure aristocratique du siècle des Lumières. Un jardin « à la française » renforce le charme de l’ensemble.
Plusieurs nouvelles salles, un centre de documentation et une salle pédagogique modulable en auditorium de 80 places complèteront le musée à son ouverture.
Un restaurant, une boutique et une cour couverte relieront le musée à la chapelle des Bateliers, futur accueil des musées communaux d’Arts décoratifs et archéologique
Dit schitterend pand uit de 18e eeuw, geklasseerd als uitzonderlijk erfgoed van Wallonië, werd in 1935 aangekocht door de stad Namur. Het herbergt een van de meest uitgebreide verzamelingen sierkunsten van de 17e tot de 19e eeuw die toegankelijk zijn voor het publiek (schilderijen, beelden, faiences, kristal, meubelen, stoffen, edelsmeedwerk, horloges…). De elegante aankleding van het interieur (lambrisering, marmer, stuc, beschilderd doek, verguld leder, wandtapijten, behangpapier) evoqueren de sfeer van een aristocratenwoning uit de Eeuw van de Verlichting. Een Franse tuin draagt bij tot de charme van het geheel.
Verschillende nieuwe zalen, een documentatiecentrum en een pedagogische zaal die kan gebruikt worden als auditorium met 80 plaatsen, zullen het museum aanvullen bij de opening.
Een restaurant, een winkel en een overdekt hofje zullen het museum verbinden met de Chapelle des Bateliers, het toekomstig onthaal van de gemeentelijke musea voor Sierkunsten en Oudheidkunde
This superb 18th century former town mansion was bought by the City of Namur in 1935, and is classified as an exceptional heritage of Wallonia. It holds one of the richest collections of decorative art from the 17th and 19th centuries and is open to the public (paintings, sculptures, faience, crystals, furniture, fabrics, jewellery, watches…). The interior design of the building (woodwork, marble, stuccoes, canvases, gilded leather, tapestries, wallpaper) elegantly evokes the atmosphere of an aristocratic home from the Age of Enlightenment. The French-style garden deepens the charm of the place.
For the reopening of the museum, there will be several new halls, a documentation centre and an educational room, which can be adapted to an auditorium of 80 seats.
A restaurant, a boutique and a covered courtyard will connect the museum to the Chapel of Bateliers, which will become the new reception area for the Municipal Museums of Decorative Arts and Archaeology.
