Located on the grounds of the Ottawa National Forest Visitor Center, this bicycle repair station features a number of tooks to both repair and clean your bike. Installed as part of an BSA Eagle Scout Service Project (Troop 323).
A sign located at the stations reads:
Stop the Spread: Clean your Tread!
Non-native invasive species threaten the health and sustainability of our North Woods: help stop the spread!
Please use the bicycle cleaning station before your ride:
- Lift bike and hang by the frame on hooks
- Inspect frame, tires, chain & remove all plant material & debris.
- Use brush to clean dirt, mud, seeds from tires, pedals & frame.
- Use hand pump to remove seeds or dirt from derailleur & gears.
- Check & inflate tires, inspect bike for maintenance issues.
- Lift bike off cleaning station & enjoy your ride.
- Consider cleaning your bike after your ride too, to protect your next location.
STOP Invasive Plant Hitchhikers. Clean ALL recreational equipment between outings.
