The water tower of Houtain Saint simeon is situated in the Rue de Slins. Houtain Saint Simeon is situated on a plateau between the rivers Maas and Jeker (Geer) The region was till mid 20th century famous for the manufacturing of handmade straw-hats, like the famous singer Maurice Chevalier wore one.This type of hat is called Cantonier.
The water tower is abouth 55m high.

Houtain-Saint-Siméon ligt op een plateau tussen de rivieren Maas en Jeker op een hoogte van ongeveer 150 meter in Haspengouw.
Houtain-Saint-Siméon was tot in het midden van de 20e eeuw een belangrijk centrum van de strohoedenindustrie (manufacture de chapeaux de paille) en de strovlechterij (tressage).
De hier gefabriceerde strohoed, vooral de zogeheten canotier, was wereldberoemd en werd bezongen door Maurice Chevalier.

Houtain-Saint-Siméon se trouve sur un plateau entre les rivières Meuse et Geer à une altitude d'environ 150 mètres à Hesbaye.
Jusqu'au milieu du XXe siècle, Houtain-Saint-Siméon était un centre important pour l'industrie des chapeaux de paille.
Le chapeau de paille fabriqué ici, surtout le canotier, était célèbre dans le monde entier et était chanté par Maurice Chevalier.
