This stone monument surmounted by a cross and surrounded by railings was originally erected to commemorate the men of Broadbottom who lost their lives in World War I.
It has subsequently been amended to commemorate the dead from WWII and later wars.

The memorial is number 3271 on the Imperial War Museum list of memorials.
It is in the format of a Four-sided plinth, with pillars at each corner and tablets bearing inscription. Above each tablet there is a small gable. The pillars are capped with pinnacles, and the monument is topped with a dome which bears a large cross. The memorial is surrounded by railings with gold balls on top.
The front face has the following inscription.
