This 'ghost' Service Station is on the Bells Line of Road, in the northern Blue Mountain village of Bilpin.

At this 'Ghost Service Station' on the historic Bells Line of Road are two fuel pumps, possibly from the 1940's. They each have a glass reservoir to the side of the bowser, with an impellor, to reassure the customer that they were getting what was being pumped.
While they have been upgraded to measure in litres (which occured with metrification, in 1970), but they don't have any ability to charge more than 99 cents/litre. Mind you, when last used they were charging 43.3 cents/litre for Diesel, whereas in 2019 that is currently $1.43/litre.
Kurrajong Heights is just a few kilometres from the better known community of Bilpin. Bilpin is known as the "Land of the Mountain Apple" with hundres of hectares of orchards. visit link) ] But that hasn't stopped there being a decline in the traffic through here, as the Great Western Highway, through the southern Blue Mountains (think, Katoomba) has made it a lot easier to traverse the Blue Mountains, on that side of the Grose Valley; so a lot less traffic now comes through here - and the more fuel efficient cars mean less need to stop to refuel.
