The mountain village of El Valle de Anton located in a volcanic crater 600 meters above sea leave has a unique micro-climate rich with natural resources. Apart from the many varieties of bird and plant life found here, the area is also known for its therapeutic hot spring pools (aguas termales). Hot springs are created by the natural occurrence of minerals in high temperature waters, usually found in volcanic regions. In Europe and Japan bathing in hot springs, drinking its water and they use of clay hydrated by hot spring water is common in medical and preventative routines.

El Valle opened its naturally occurring hot springs to the public 17 years ago, when the beneficial properties of the water was validated by European and Cuban scientists. To use, bathers submerge themselves in a hot pool where the water temperature is about 38° C. Maximum time of 45 minutes is recommended.
