An old blockhouse turned into a small jewel. A resident of Portel (Pas-de-Calais) spent 10 years of his life collecting seashells on the beach of Equihen to decorate his house. It has completely covered the walls of this old bunker with thousands of shells: shelves, tables, walls, and even the greenhouse, everything went.

The idea came to him 30 years ago when he retired. "Once I had a visit from one of my brothers-in-law, and we went for a walk on the beach and he said to me: with these shells, you could perhaps do something? I thought it was crazy, but ... "But the result is amazing.

This activity was not easy. "We had to sort out the shells, the big ones made the frames, and I put the little ones inside." A sorting that was carried out by colors also, between the roses, the grays and the whites. "It's a convict job," smiled Paul. At 91 years old, his back is a bit hunched but his spirit still cheerful, he can now contemplate his work in the shade of the vine that stretches on the walls of his house.
