The 89-year-old visual artist J.H. Weggegaan has once again unveiled the Emperor designed by him at the beginning of this year. For the artist it was the second time that he unveiled the males' boar that he made. He did this earlier on 23 March 1967 and contrary to the unveiling at the beginning of this year he did so without a representative from the municipality of Nunspeet being present.

The municipality of Nunspeet then had commissioned for the making and placing of the sculpture, but did not show up at the unveiling. Whether or not the various comments after the decision to make the sculpture was given, the history was not mentioned. In 1967, humorists wondered whether the municipality of Nunspeet had purchased a piggy bank. Now seems the then current line of thought: 'The symbolism of this image must be sought in the strong bond between the municipality and nature'.

The 'Nunspeetse Keiler', as the statue is officially called, was executed in 1967 in concrete and it was no longer possible to restore it to old splendor at the start of the renovation of the Stationsplein. With financial support from the ANWB, the municipality of Nunspeet and VMI from Epe, the Lions Club Nunspeet has succeeded in putting the image in bronze back on the old familiar spot.

The bronze keiler is a true-to-life representation of his wild example, and most probably the pig with the highest 'cuddling factor'.
