The sundial is large and mounted on a round natural stone base. It is prominently displayed near the center of the west section of the cemetery. We were there on June 10, 2017 at 10:20 am, it was overcast.
There is an inscription of a poem (in part) by Dorothy Frances Gurney from "God's Garden". Dorothy Gurney was an English poet and hymnwriter, born October 4, 1858 and passed away June 15, 1932, she was 73 years of age.
"The kiss of the sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth,
One is nearer God's Heart in a garden.
Than anywhere else on Earth."
Sunset Memorial Gardens is approximately 7 acres in size and is well maintained with lush green lawns and some tall tree around the circular drive. There is the "Lord's Prayer" prominently displayed toward the back of the cemetery. All the grave markers are flush to the ground.
There are 1,266 known interments with the first in 1957.
