The park first open in 1972. The name comes from its previous landlord, the King Powder Company. It opened as a replacement for Coney Island which suffered from frequent flooding. In 1992, the park was purchased by Paramount. It has changed hands again recently. Cedar Fair, L.P. purchased the park in 2006.

The 1/3 scale replica of the Eifel Tower, is the centerpiece of Kings Island. Here are some of the other rides at the park:

Italian Job: Stunt Track - LIM-launched coaster themed from movie
