Historic Camden Revolution War site has many exhibits that demonstrate life in Colonial American. One tradesman that was essential to everyday life was the community blacksmiths.

Blacksmith Forge

Blacksmithing was an important trade in Colonial America. Using a forge (fireplace) and numerous tools, the blacksmith fashioned hot iron into metal objects needed by the community, such as farming and other tools, Kitchen items, and construction hardware. Several blacksmiths practiced their trade in 18th century Camden. This traditional forge was built by the Philip Simmons, Artist-Blacksmith Guild of South Carolina
