Playa de Muro is the largest sand beach on Mallorca and includes four sections that in total cover nearly six kilometres. Located in the town of Muro, near Alcúdia, on the northeast coast of the island, each of the four beaches that make-up Playa de Muro are white sand, some with sand dunes. Playa de Muro is a perfect beach for all ages groups and caters to tourists and locals alike. It is a very popular beach for families because of its easy access, restaurants, onsite facilities, kid focused activities such as dedicated play areas, and the exceptionally shallow waters in which you have to walk quite far before it gets deep. Playa de Muro is a very popular base for holiday destinations with all of the large hotels and rental apartments within walking distance to the beach.
Section 1 beach, known simply as Playa de Muro, is only about 3 kilometres from Port d’Alcudia beach. Because of its proximity, this is the perhaps the most popular beach on Playa de Muro, with a large number of hotels and restaurants, easy parking and other facilities directly backing up to the beach.
Section 2 is slightly less busy, but is still very easily accessible to all of the same facilities. As you move into Sector 3, also known as Sa Comu, the beach is quieter, with facilities and access requiring more of a walk, though parking can be found at both ends of this 1.5 kilometre beach. This section is part of the S’Albufera Natural Park and sand dunes and pine trees surround this natural stretch of beach.
Finally, Sector 4, called Es Cappellans, starts to become more popular again with all restaurants, hotels and facilities right at the beach. This final sector is right near the popular resort of Can Picafort.
