This museum is only open during the summer months as stated on the sign located by the door. It is open on Saturdays and Sundays from July through August from Noon to 3pm and Saturdays only in May, June, Sept., and Oct.. There are phone numbers listed for keyholders that will open the museum upon request as well. The musuem was not open when we visited, so we were not able to view the museums artifacts. The township of Galen has a diverse history dating back to the early 1800's, so I'm sure there are quite a few things worth seeing there. There is a very nice park across the street with vets. memorials, and two time capsules are near here as well.
Theme: This museum has items from the early settlers days dating back to the early 1800's as well as items relating to the Erie Canal that passes through the village. This area was thriving when the canal was dug through here, as well as more recent visits by some famous people such as Martha Stewart for one.
