EN: The Gasthof Metzgern is located on the Hohengasse in the old town of Burgdorf. The four-storey house has an arcade with eye-catching friezes and a passage to Pfisterngasse. The ornaments above the arcades are painted in two colors and show floral patterns and animals as well as three scenes from the butcher's trade.
The house was built in the 1840s by the guild of the butchers and shoemakers. It originally contained a hotel and a butcher shop on the ground floor. The square under the arcades was leased to market stalls. The hotel was converted into a residential building in the late 1970s. But the restaurant on the ground floor still exists.
DE: Der Gasthof Metzgern befinet sich an der Hohengasse in der Altstadt von Burgdorf. Das vierstöckige Haus hat eine Arkade mit auffälligen Friesen und einem Durchgang zur Pfisterngasse. Die Ornamente über den Arkaden sind zweifarbig koloriert und zeigen neben Blumenmustern und Tieren drei Szenen aus dem Metzgerhandwerk.
Das Haus wurde in den 1840er Jahren von der Zunft zu Metzgern und Schumachern erstellt. Es enthielt ursprünglich ein Hotel und im Erdgeschoss eine Metzgerei. Der Platz unter den Arkaden wurde an Marktstände vermietet. Das Hotel wurde in den späten 1970er Jahren in ein Wohnhaus umgebaut. Das Restaurant im Erdgeschoss blieb aber bestehen.
