The East San Jose Carnegie Library was designed by Jacob Lenzen and built in 1908. The original grant amount was $7000. In 1981 the building was renovated and an expansion wing was built onto the back of the original building. Designated as San Jose Historic Landmark Number 10, it was also added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. It is still operating as a public library.
