The plaque reads: "This certificate recognizes Chadron State College as the steward of Nebraska's largest known white spruce (Picea glauca). It was recorded in Chadron Nebraska on Aug 3, 2016 by the Nebraska Forest Service. At measurement it stood 71' tall with a circumference of 7.83' and a 35' average crown spread. This tree's location and stature will be recorded in a historical database, used to help the Nebraska Forest Service monitor the health and vitality of similar species around the state."
