EN: This stone cross stands in the churchyard of the catholic church St. Agatha in the center of Dietikon.
The stone cross has several ornaments. At the top a star and the letters INRI, on the side arms a sun and a moon, in the middle a heart with a crown of thorns and below a skull with two crossed bones. On the foundation is a Latin inscription, which is no longer decipherable due to the blackening by the age, the year is probably 1828. At the back of the foundation are still a lamb and a half wheel.
The churchyard of Dietikon was the cemetery until the rebuilding of the church in 1927, then the cemetery was moved to the outskirts. Only this cross and the priest's graves are still here.
DE: Dieses Steinkreuz steht auf dem Kirchhof der katholischen Kirche St. Agatha im Zentrum von Dietikon.
Das Steinkreuz hat verschiedene Verzierungen. An der Spitze ein Stern und die Buchstaben INRI, an den Seitenarmen eine Sonne und ein Mond, in der Mitte ein Herz mit einem Dornenkranz und unten ein Schädel mit zwei gekreuzten Knochen. Auf dem Fundament steht eine lateinische Inschrift, die aufgrund der Schwärzungen durch das Alter nicht mehr zu entziffern ist, die Jahreszahl ist vermutlich 1828. An der Rückseite des Fundaments befinden sich noch ein Lamm und ein halbes Rad.
Der Kirchhof von Dietikon war bis zum Neubau der Kirche 1927 auch der Friedhof, dann wurde dieser an den Stadtrand verlegt. Nur dieses Kreuz und die Priestergräber sind noch da.
