Before South Gippsland Highway became a dual carriageway in 1991, the local shire built this wooden platform tower, in 1985.

The commemorative bronze plaque for the Opening of the Tower is attached to a hardwood post, at the base of the Lookout Tower. While the tower is in the Col Utber Swamp Tower Reserve, there isn't much of a swamp left, as going back to the late 1800's works had been done to provide drainage of the swamps, so that the area could be habitable. [Witness - the German Dredge plaque and axle nearby in the park]

On phoning the current local Council office, the secretary wasn't sure when this park would have shifted from the jurisdiction of the Cranbourne Shire, to the Shire of Cardinia. Tho 'Wiki' has the following 'to say': "The [Cardinia] Shire came into being on 15 December 1994 as the result of statewide local government reform, by merging the Shire of Pakenham with rural sections of the Shire of Sherbrooke and City of Cranbourne." Shire of Cardinia

Koo Wee Rup Lookout Tower

To me, the Lookout Tower almost looks like a wooden transformer action figure as a marionette.
