The castle is in the highest part of Trujillo. It was built in the 13th century on the site of an old Arab fortress from the 9th or 10th century. The square towers typical of Islamic military architecture are preserved. It is built of masonry and mortar and is made up of two parts, the Main Courtyard and the Albacara.

El castillo se encuentra en la parte más alta de Trujillo. Fue construido en el siglo XIII sobre una antigua fortaleza árabe de los siglos IX o X. Conserva las torres cuadradas típicas de la arquitectura militar islámica. Está construido en mampostería y argamasa, y compuesto de dos partes, el Patio de Armas y la Albacara.
