This is the original location of the John Jameson distillery, founded in 1780. During the 19th century he enlarged it greatly. At the beginning of the 20th century, the site covered seven acres. Whiskey is no longer made here, but the original buildings have been preserved and made into a museum.
Irish Whiskey can trace its history back to the 6th century. Almost like a tour of a working distillery you can follow the fascinating craft of whiskey making through the different stages from grain intake to malting, mashing, fermentation, distillation, maturation and bottling. Finally, the tour culminates in the Jameson bar for a traditional Irish Whiskey tasting session. Other facilities include Distillery Gift Shop with exclusive brands of Irish Whiskey, Restaurant and Public Bar.
Admission was 8.75€ in 2006.
