Blasterz, though Texans, are accustomed enough to exploring the Mississippi river delta and associated bayous to know that there are gators EVERYWHERE there's stagnant water (which is everywhere).
We did NOT expect that there would be an official Mississippi State road sign pointing out the gator OVER THERE -----›
It took us a few moments and a look at our highway map to realize this was a sign pointing the way to the TOWN of Alligator.
Rats. We wanted to see another real alligator on this trip.
