In 1672 Shaftesbury’s first dissenting church (Presbyterian) was established in Muston’s Lane.

By 1732 The Presbyterian Church re-founded as an Independent or Congregational chapel.

The existing Congregational Chapel building in Muston's Lane was built in 1859, designed by Andrew Trimen.

The building is no longer in use as a church and had become Amore Ristorante Italiano.
