This building has five painted stucco chimera on its front facade.

The building was originally the Albert Hall used for public meetings and exhibitions etc.
Since 1909 it has housed the Mechanics Institute snooker and billiard hall.
The chimera are all colourfully painted. Four of them are female faces above ground floor windows whilst the fifth is a male figure above a central arch on the first floor.
