Am 3. September 1955 wurde die Plastik "Berliner Bär" von dem Bremer Bildhauer Ernst Gorsemann (1886-1960) in den Wallanlagen auf der Höhe des Doventors aufgestellt. Die Plastik aus Klinkerkeramik wurde auf einer Säule errichtet.
Auf der Anhöhe, auf der früher das Altmann-Denkmal stand, wurden 1955 einige Kiefern gepflanzt, die Berlin als Zeichen der Verbundenheit geschenkt hatte. Die Idee, einen "Berliner Winkel" zu schaffen, führte zum Ankauf der Plastik Gorsemanns, die ursprünglich für den Berliner Oberbürgermeister Dr. Sahm gearbeitet worden war. On September 3rd 1955 the sculpture "Berliner Bär" was arranged by sculptor Ernst Gorsemann (1886-1960). The artist from Bremen established it in the public park "Wallanlagen" near the "Doventor".
On the top of the hill stood the "Altmann-Memorial" in former years. Pines were planted there given by the City of Berlin as a sign of solidarity. The idea to develop a Berlin Corner led to the sculpture's acquisition which was originally custom-built for Berlin mayor Dr. Sahm. A duplicature of the sculpture is erected at the house where Gorsemann lived in "Leher Heerstraße".
