Forestvale CemeteryForestvale Cemetery was established in 1890, with the first burial in September 1890.

The cemetery is located near Helena, Lewis & Clark County about two and a half miles north of the city limits. The Cemetery consists of 148 acres with approximately 16,000 burials and is still active. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Designed by Vermont native Harry Vespasian Wheeler, a civil engineer, the cemetery was envisioned as a "Rural Cemetery". There are curved pathways that meander through cemetery.
Within the Forestvale Cemetery there is possibly only one mausoleum. It is large, built of rock with a plaque on the gable. There are two inserts both inscribed with the same information. Just above the entrance is the Masonic emblem. There appears that originally there were stained glass windows that are now covered over with stones.
