« L’œuvre est en rapport avec le temps solaire. Elle nous rappelle que notre société moderne s’écarte du rythme biologique en créant un temps artificiel oubliant ainsi les moments symboliques ancestraux qui rythmaient une année. Dans nos campagnes le solstice d’été était l’occasion de réjouissances. Les premières réserves étaient constituées, et on allait pouvoir affronter l’hiver. A proximité de la gare, l’ensemble sculptural matérialise l’espace-temps solaire. Deux repères sont présents. L’un est au sol avec le mot Solstice gravé sur une plaque de petit granit, l’autre est une pierre couchée sur laquelle est gravée le mot Midi. Trois dates sont concernées : le 21 mars pour l’équinoxe du printemps ; le 21 juin pour le solstice d’été et le 21 septembre pour l’équinoxe d’automne.
L’ensemble sculptural est orienté nord – sud. Lors des équinoxes, lorsque les rayons du soleil passent entre les deux monolithes de pierre, à midi solaire, l’ombre se porte sur les deux repères. L’œuvre a été conçue spécifiquement en relation avec la gare. Elle est réalisée avec les matériaux présents dans le quartier : la pierre et la brique. La couleur verte du bronze rappelle celle des châssis des fenêtres de la gare. L’œuvre fait sens si l’on considère les préoccupations qui animent le voyageur en arrivant ou en partant de Waremme.
Luc Navet est plasticien de formation et habite Marchin, près de Huy. Issu d’un milieu modeste, à 57 ans maintenant, il fut par le passé influencé par de grands noms tels Sartre ou Picasso.

«The work is related to solar time. It reminds us that our modern society deviates from the biological rhythm by creating an artificial time thus forgetting the ancestral symbolic moments that paced a year. In our countryside the summer solstice was an occasion for rejoicing. The first reserves were constituted, and we were going to be able to face the winter. Close to the station, the sculptural ensemble represents the solar space-time. Two markers are present. One is on the ground with the word Solstice engraved on a plate of small granite, the other is a lying stone on which is engraved the word Midi. Three dates are concerned: March 21 for the spring equinox; June 21 for the summer solstice and September 21 for the autumn equinox.
The sculptural ensemble is oriented north-south. At the equinoxes, when the rays of the sun pass between the two monoliths of stone, at sun noon, the shadow moves on the two landmarks. The work was conceived specifically in relation to the station. It is made with the materials present in the neighborhood: stone and brick. The green color of the bronze is reminiscent of the window frames of the station. The work makes sense if one considers the preoccupations which animate the traveler when arriving or leaving Waremme.
Luc Navet is a plastic artist and lives in Marchin, near Huy. From a modest background, now 57 years old, he was influenced by great names such as Sartre and Picasso.
