EN: The sign and flower boxes are held by two friendly carved wooden peasants. It stands at the northern village entrance after the bridge, which leads from the highway into the village., I could not find out who created these sculptures, or when.
The official name of the village is only Simplon, but the addition "Dorf" (village) is often used to prevent confusion with the far more famous Simplon Pass about nine kilometers north of the village.
DE: Das Schild und Blumenkästen werden von zwei freundlichen geschnitzten Bauern aus Holz gehalten. Es steht am nördlichen Dorfeingang nach der Brücke, die von der Autostrasse ins Dorf führt. Wer diese Skulpturen geschaffen hat, konnte ich nicht herausfinden.
Der offizielle Name des Ortes ist nur Simplon, der Zusatz "Dorf" wird aber häufig verwendet um Verwechslungen mit dem weit bekannteren Simplonpass etwa neun Kilometer nördlich des Dorfes zu verhindern.
